Well-known Cape Town public relations consultant and journalist Brian Berkman successfully shed the heft which caused his Type 2 Diabetes and transformed himself from a sedentary heavyweight to someone who is fit and enjoys an active lifestyle.

Brian attributes his massive weight loss and success in keeping the bulk off, for more than five years, to the low-carbohydrate and high-fat diet commonly referred to as Banting or Keto which was brought to global attention by Prof Tim Noakes.

Brian’s Kitchen Pop-Up dishes will be low-carb and effectively sugar-free.

Banting Pop-Ups are R400 each and the menu might include the following:

Guests are invited to enjoy their own wine.

To start
Courgette and coconut milk soup (V)
Chicken liver pate
Heba “bread” rolls. (V)

Beef brisket. Spiced, smoked, slow-cooked with garlic, onions and tomatoes
Pureed cauliflower or cauliflower “couscous” (V)
Ratatouille. Aubergine, tomatoes, onions, peppers (V)
Steamed Broccoli (V)
Roasted vegetable frittata. Low-carb vegetables, eggs, cheese, cream. (V)

Green salad and a selection of cheeses (V)

Advance booking at quicket.co.za is essential as spaces are limited to 12 people at the long table.
